  Dis-association letter

  ok, i have thought about it too long and hard and came to the conclusion that this really is something that i want to do!

  i don't know exactly how to write my letter to dis-associate myself and exactly who i should send it too.

  i was readding somethings before that had talked about people sending a copy to there old friends to let them know as well.

  Can you imagine if they were truthful...

  .....WT front article, picture of starving children ................"Soon an end to all suffering..................cos all these children pictured here will be dead at armaggeddon" Because thats what they really mean...............unless all those starving ppl , dying where they lay start having a bible study...............................its so ridiculous, I cant believe I swallowed it for all those years

  Question about shunning from someone who has never been a JW....

  i wondered, since the jws claim that jesus is their teacher, what evidence do they have of jesus shunning "bad associations"?

  it seems to me, from reading the bible, that the religious people of his day really gave him a hard time, because he actually spent the majority of his time with "bad associates", rather than shunning them.

  thomas, though he followed jesus, wasn't totally convinced.

  The problem I have is that the assumption that the Witnesses are indeed chosen by God (just as all the other religions believe about themselves). The evidence suggests the contrary (as can be researched through this board - see Best of). So really you are just shunning someone for not having the same beliefs as you. I think the difference here is the way the verses have shown the relationship between believers and unbelievers - in other words these people were not shunned but equaly were not associated with, that is a big difference to what goes on in the witnesses DF arrangement.

  Is becoming a witness the right thing for me

  i've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the jehovah witness faith.

  i am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the church.

  i started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the church--which i began to seriously doubt.

  Today is my 1st Anniversary with JWD!!!

  one small baby step for arwen one year ago today has led me down a path to where i am now taking long strides.

  i was reading over some of my early posts here on jwd and i have come a long way.

  i finally disassociated myself on june 8 and i am so thankful that i found this board to help me get on with my life.

  My recommendation is to go back to the Bible and read it again (new testament) it wont take all that long if you are serious about your future with or without them. See what it really says and then compare to the teachings the witnesses have - you should see some major discrepancies. When reading look for : Paradise, two groups of christians (annointed - not anointed), dates of the end, governing body/organisation etc. Hope your search goes well.

  Thank you once again for your comments. One thing that stands out for me is the thing about beards - the mosaic law was for keeping it - in other words the principle was to be different from other nations around them. But today its conform to a worldly 'business man' standard! Pathetic Pharisaical people!

  My District Convention Last Weekend

  well, iast weekend was my dc.

  it was at the merrell center in katy tx.. for those of you not in this district, this is the one which encompasses the houston, texas area.

  several years ago we were holding our dc in the astrodome, the whole district on one weekend.

  it took me 3-4 SOLID minutes of walking at a brisk pace to reach the doors from my car

  Try doing the outer car parks at Twickenham, anyone else here remember the trek???
